“Enjoy the summer. It just showed up.”
An old man on a bench outside the Trader Joe’s said that to me this morning. He also nodded at my sunflowers and said, “Pretty flowers for a pretty girl,” which is the kind of thing that makes me smile if and only if it is coming from an old man on a bench in the morning.
Needs for today:
1. A recommendation for a good multivitamin/calcium supplement/magical voodoo to make all my joints and muscles stop hurting all the time, especially good lower back stretches and something for behind my knees
2. 500 words of fiction, banked
3. A long walk to Castle Island, followed by some Two Buck Chuck
See? I am not difficult to please.

old men say the cutest stuff.
green lipped mussels are supposed to be awesome for joint health. i know this because we had a Yorkie (famous for bad knees) who took the puppy version and those pills were a godsend. my dad takes the human version for his bad knees.
also if you’re on your feet all the time, as your cooking and galavanting would indicate, you could always look into some orthopaedic shoes. 😛
really though, i bought some cute crocs on sale at shoebuy.com (the malindi style) for when i’m walking all day or cooking an involved meal, and they are fabulous. i think it hurts me more than most people to stand or walk all day, especially behind my knees and in my feet, and the crocs have really made a difference.
